THE FLAT TIRE

My tire had a staple in it. Of all times for this to happen -- a flat tire.

But when is a good time for a flat tire? Not when you are wearing a suit and you have been traveling for nearly five hours and, adding to this bleak picture, nightfall is approaching. Wait; did I mention that I was on a country road? Okay, now you have the picture.

There was only one thing to do: call AAA. Yeah, right. The cell phone I bought for security and protection in moments like this isn't in range to call anyone. "No Service" it says. No kidding!

I sat for a few minutes moaning and complaining. It's a male thing. Then I began emptying my trunk so that I could get at the tire and tools needed to get the job done. I carry a large plastic container filled with what I call "just-in-case-stuff." When I am training or speaking, I love to have props with me. I hate leaving anything home so I bring everything...just in case.

Cars buzz by me. A few beep sarcastically. I hear the horn saying "ha ha!" I say, "You'll get yours!" Darkness begins to settle in. It's becoming a bit difficult to see. The tire is on the passenger side, thank God, away from all the traffic, but making it difficult to benefit from the headlights of passing cars.

Suddenly a car pulls off the road behind me. In the blinding light I see a male figure approaching me. "Hey, do you need any help?"

"Well, it certainly isn't easy doing this with a white dress shirt and suit on," I said. Then he steps into the light. I literally was frightened.

This young guy was dressed in black. Nearly everything imaginable was pierced and tattooed. His hair was cropped and poorly cut. He had leather bracelets with spikes on each wrist.

"How about I give you a hand?" he said.

"Well, I don't know . . . I think I can . . . "

"Come on, it will only take me a few minutes." He took right over. While watching him I happened to look back at his car and noticed for the first time someone sitting in the passenger seat. That concerned me. I suddenly felt out numbered. Thoughts of car-jackings or robberies flashed through my mind. I really just wanted to get this over and survive it. Then, without warning, it began to pour. The night sky had hidden the approaching clouds. It hit like a waterfall and made it impossible to finish the tire change.

"Look, my friend, just stop what you're doing. I appreciate all your help.

You better get going. I'll finish after the rain stops," I said.

"Let me help you put your stuff back in the trunk. It will get ruined," he insisted. "Then get in my car. We'll wait with you," he insisted.

"No, really. I'll take care of everything," I said.

"You can't get in your car with the jack up like that. It will fall. Come on. Get in," he said as he grabbed my arm and pulled me toward the car.

Crack! Boom! Lightning and thunder roared like a freight train. I literally jumped in his car. "Oh, God, protect me!" I thought to myself.

Wet and tired I settled into the back seat.

Suddenly a small frail voice came from the front seat of the car. `"Are you all right?" she said as she turned around to face me.

"Yes, I am," I replied with much relief seeing the old woman there. It must be his Mom.

"My name is Beatrice and this is my neighbor Jeff," she said. "He insisted on stopping when he saw you struggling with the tire."

"I am grateful for his help," I said.

"Me, too!" she said with a laugh. "Jeff takes me to visit my husband. We had to place him in a nursing home and it's about 30 minutes away from where we live. So, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we have a date." She laughed and shook her head.

"We're the remake of the Odd Couple," Jeff said as he joined in laughing.

"Jeff, that's incredible what you do for her. I would never have guessed, well, ah, you know I . . ." I stumbled with the words.

"I know. People who look like me don't do nice things," he said.

Silence. I really felt uncomfortable. I never believed that I judged people by the way they dressed. I was angry with myself for being so stupid.

"Jeff is a great kid. I'm not the only one he helps. He's a volunteer at our church. He also works with the kids in the learning center at the low income housing unit in our town," said Beatrice.

"I'm a tutor" Jeff said quietly as he stared at my car.

Silence again played a part now in a moment of reflection rather than the uncomfortable feeling that I had insulted someone. He was right. What he wore on the outside was a reflection of the world as he saw it. What he wore on the inside was the spirit of giving, caring and loving the world he wanted to see.

The rain stopped and Jeff and I changed the tire. I tried to offer him money and of course, he refused it. As we shook hands I began to apologize for my stupidity.

He said, "I experience that same reaction often. I actually thought about changing the way I look. But then I saw this as an opportunity to make a point.

"So I'll leave you with the same question I ask everyone who takes time to know me. If Jesus returned tomorrow and walked among us again, would you recognize Him by what He wore or by what He did?"

So far away

Artist: NICKELBACK
Album: All The Right Reasons
Title: Far Away

This time, This place
Misused, Mistakes
Too long, Too late
Who was I to make you wait
Just one chance
Just one breath
Just in case there's just one left
'Cause you know,
you know, you know

[CHORUS]

That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore

One my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance
'Cause with you, I'd withstand
All of hell to hold your hand

I'd give it all
I'd give for us
Give anything but I won't give up
'Cause you know,
you know, you know

[CHORUS]

So far away
Been far away for far too long
So far away
Been far away for far too long
But you know, you know, you know

I wanted
I wanted you to stay
'Cause I needed
I need to hear you say
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I forgive you
For being away for far too long
So keep breathing
'Cause I'm not leaving
Hold on to me and, never let me go

IRB to introduce new scrum law

A new scrummaging rule will be introduced to rugby union next year in a bid to improve safety, the International Rugby Board announced on Saturday.

The new IRB Council law will see a four-stage "crouch, touch, pause, engage" process that will bring packs closer and cut the force on impact when it is implemented on January 1.

The world governing body has reviewed the safety of the scrum after recommendations by its medical committee although it rejected calls to follow rugby league and "depower" the scrum.

The key change to the present sequence is that the two props will have to touch their opponent's shoulder. Currently, the two packs often charge at each other from up to three feet away.

Front rows will also be prohibited from engaging with their head and shoulders lower than their hips in a bid to reduce the number of collapsed scrums while keeping set-pieces competitive.

IRB chairman Dr Syd Millar, quoted on the official IRB Web site, said the contested scrum remained central to the sport.

Contested scrum

"An essential element of rugby is its physicality. This has to be appropriately balanced with the welfare of participating players and the IRB continues to take such issues very seriously.

"The IRB believes that the contested scrum is an integral part of the game and that rugby is unique in that its playing charter provides the opportunity for individuals of all shapes and sizes to play the game," said Millar.

He added, however, that expert medical and technical advice had indicated it was appropriate for the game to adopt a "less vigorous scrum engagement sequence".

Former England front row forward Jason Leonard, who helped the IRB review the scrum, told the Web site: "This new engagement sequence will standardise the distance the two sets of forwards are apart, reduce the collision at engagement and will assist in ensuring that both sets of forwards are at the best horizontal height possible.

"This is crucial to the successful engagement of the scrum."

"With the reduced impact and forwards at the correct height we will see an associated improvement in the bind. This should also assist in minimising collapsing of the front row.

"It also ensures that the scrum remains a true contest which is important for the game. It in no way impairs both teams ability to contest for the ball," added Leonard.

The law change will accompany the zero tolerance policy on crooked feeds to the scrum that comes into effect next year.

The E

THE EAGLE

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

The Bible says, "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles." Isaiah 40:31

i agree with this message. we can do all things in Christ who lifts us up in times of difficulties. He will never forsake us nor leave us alone. He is always standing in that corner asking u to let Him help you. And there will be times where He wants you to learn from things hoping that the next time when u face the same situation, you soar higher. He will never give you a too daunting task.

what ever situation in life we're facing through now, do not dispair, for we know that our faithful Lord is always standing there saying "come, come, come to me and I'll lift you up above all", with that outstretched arms of His.

anyway the past few days i've been playing captain ball with my classmates, both 2B01 and 2B02 classes, was really fun and i realised again that its time for me to lose weight la. hahaha. 1000N is NO joke!

anyways tml is the competition alr so just hope that we're prepared and have FUN! Class 02 has really sporty players =) my class too! anyways what we want at the end of the day is to have FUN!

TULANG

GOOD MORNING!

KEEP ON MOVING
By: Five

I woke up today with this feeling.
Better things are coming my way.
I know the sunshine has a meaning,
And nothing left can get in my way

When the rainy days are dying,
Gotta keep on, keep on trying
All the bees and birds are flying
Ahhhh...

Never let go, gotta hold on and
Nonstop 'til the break of dawn and
Keep on moving, don't stop rocking
Ahhhh...

Get on up
When you're down, baby,
Take a good look around.
I know it's not much,
But it's okay.
Keep on movin' on anyway

Feels like I have should be screaming,
Trying get through to my friends.
sometimes it feels that life has no meaning,
But all things will be alright in the end.

When the rainy days are dying,
Gotta keep on, keep on trying
All the bees and birds are flying
Ahhhh...

Never let go, gotta hold on and
Non-stop 'til the break of dawn and
Keep on moving, don't stop rocking
Ahhhh...

Get on up
When you're down, baby,
Take a good look around.
I know it's not much,
But it's okay.
Keep on movin' on anyway

relaxing day

today woke up late, purposely, trying to catch some slp. but the stupid renovation next door prevented me in doing so and my bioclock retarded my slping too. so im like so tired but unable to slp.

tts bad, tiring for me.

anyway stoned almost the whole day cos i really didn't wanna do anything so caught up with a movie. poseidon. not bad la. but the show too dramatic and the plot is pretty bad.

after that went to gym with nelson after he bugged me since morning. and he went there doing nothing much.

worked OUT my triceps and chest until there're really out. now im shaking even as im typing, i meant my arms shaking. =X

OOOO and i ran like 2 rounds at fastest speed after being worn out after gym

conclusion: 2 rounds = 4 mins hahaha tts damn slow timing, but pretty fast for a guy with a mass of 98.5kg, where its = 0.0985 ton = 985 N and its u add wind resistance its more than 0.1ton = 1000N RUNNING. so understand my difficulty hahaha. but i guess its a pretty good work out.

tml after the test i'm gonna do just running. ard 3km if possible. if i dont die halfway that is. i hope my workout regime will be carried out in the week to come. hoping to tone up.

tummitrim program beta stage 1 =))))
desired outcome:
-to have a flatter tummy
-to have more defined arms, legs and TUMMY
-to get more MUSCLE mass and not fat mass

anyone interested in joining this beta programme can dial 82338584 for a cost free consultation. ALL ARE WELCOME.

im so gamed up and excited for the class captain ball training next week.

JIAYOU TIMO YOU CAN DO IT!!!

ooo after being tempted by Lihong(boss) i bought nutella and ate almost half one shot =X sinfully bad!!! that will result to my 4 more trainings to burn it off!!
